Background
The millennium-old ghost governor of the Netherworld and the daughter of a noble family. She was born a human with spirit manipulation powers and the uncontrollable ability to instant-kill by moving souls out of their bodies. Though she ended her own life as a young woman, her remains were used to seal the Saigyou Ayakashi, a youkai cherry blossom tree notorious for luring people to sleep under its branches and absorbing their life force. As a ghost, she lost her human memories and was later appointed the administrator of Gensokyo's Netherworld for both her talents in dealing with spirits and her fair nature.
One day, she found a tome that she did not recognize in her estate's library, detailing the sealing of the Saigyou Ayakashi. The identity of the girl whose corpse kept the Saigyou Ayakashi frozen and unable to bloom forever was unknown, and it piqued Yuyuko's curiosity like nothing ever had before. She formulated a plan to steal spring from the living world so as to funnel it to the Saigyou Ayakashi and force it to bloom, unsealing the grave of the girl buried beneath it. This plunged the living world into an eternal winter and prompted a group of humans to investigate its cause. Though they fought Yuyuko and eventually succeeded in making her return the stolen spring, she got a hefty dose of reality when she had the revelation that it was her own body she'd been seeking to dig up.
This didn't stop Yuyuko from sticking her nose into the myriad of colorful incidents plaguing Gensokyo afterwards, though she hasn't done anything quite so drastic since, content to enjoy her unlife and continue looking after the Netherworld.

Jovial and friendly, likes to have a good time, doesn't anger easily--but scary when she does. Elegant, ladylike, and refined with a slight tendency to be lazy and spoiled due to her noble upbringing. Expert schemer, meddler, and general pain in the ass. Perceptive, clever, and intelligent, but acts ditzy and carefree, flighty and unpredictable. Likes food, plants, poisons, spooky and macabre things, and fun things.
